UNESCO patronage

The symposium is part of an international and multi-year approach to preparing for the World Congress of Architects (UIA - International Union of Architects) scheduled in Rio de Janeiro in 2020. The theme for the congress is "All the worlds. Just one world. Architecture 21 ».

The association "Experimental International Studio for Bio-Digital City" animates a pre-program whose objective is to bring, to this World Congress, a complementary theoretical contribution of the professional approaches usually privileged.

The pre-program includes the organization of workshops, competitions for students, conferences in universities, France and Brazil, during the period 2019-2020.

The conference completes these actions. It aims to re-question historical discourses from modern architecture, life sciences or cybernetics. Information and communication sciences, complexity sciences and digital cultures, new approaches to living are the other reservoir of methods to explore and analyze. It is therefore a question of locating oneself within continuities and historical breaks. It is also a question of fitting, quite naturally, into the great prospective debate that is taking place today, at an international level, in the fields of architecture.

The symposium, in addition to purely architectural or urban approaches, aims to highlight new ways of approaching solidarity at all scales of the territory, including taking into account the contributions that can represent new digital methods or new knowledge from biology.

The aim is to assert, at the World Congress, a dynamic of academic research and projective experimentation, linking life sciences and deep-learning, to feed urban and architectural perspectives.

By joining the program submitted by the Experimental International Workshop for the Bio-Digital City for the World Congress, the symposium emanating from EVCAU researchers, benefits from the patronage of the French National Commission of UNESCO, of the French Institute and of the Brazilian Embassy in France.

Finally, it is expected that this symposium will be followed by a second symposium on the same theme, organized in the spring of 2020, and in parallel with an exhibition currently under preparation.
